“The kindness and love of God our Savior.”
—Titus 3:4
How sweet it is to see the Savior communing with the people he loves! There can be nothing more delightful than this. If you let your mind ponder for a moment the history of the Redeemer’s love, you will discover a thousand enchanting acts of affection. And all of these acts were designed to interweave the heart, thoughts, and emotions of the renewed soul with the mind of Christ.
When we meditate upon this amazing love and behold the glorious Husband of the Church endowing her with all his ancient wealth, our souls may well faint for joy. Who is he that can endure such a weight of love? Even a partial sense of it, which the Holy Spirit sometimes allows us to experience, is more than the soul can contain; how wonderful it will be to have a complete sense of it!
When the soul understands all the Savior’s gifts and is given the wisdom and time to meditate upon them, then we will commune with Jesus in a nearer manner than we do now. The sweetness of that fellowship must be one of the things that we have not even dreamed of to this point but which God has prepared for those that love him.
By faith we now look through a misty glass and we see the reflected image of his treasures, but then we will actually see the heavenly things themselves! It is then that we will give our loudest praise to our Loving Lord Jesus Christ whose love to us is more wonderful than all other loves. [M&E]
