January 21– Morning

“All Israel will be saved.”

—Romans 11:26

 

After the crossing of the Red Sea, Moses sang joyfully because he knew that God had delivered his people, and all Israel was safe. Not a drop of spray fell from that solid wall of water until the last of God’s Israel had safely planted his foot on the other side of the flood. As soon as they were safe, immediately the waters fell back into place again, but not until then. In part of that song, Moses said, “You in your mercy have led forth the people you have redeemed.”

In the future, when God’s chosen ones will sing the song of “the Great Moses”, Jesus Christ will be able to joyfully proclaim, “Of all those you have given me, Father, I have lost none.” In heaven there will not be a vacant throne. As many as God has chosen, as many as Christ has redeemed, as many as the Spirit has called, as many as believe in Jesus—these will safely cross the dividing sea. But we haven’t all safely landed yet!

The first waves of the army have already reached the shore, but we are still marching through the depths, and we are now following hard after our Leader into the heart of the sea. Let’s be encouraged; the rear-guard shall soon be where the vanguard already is. The last of the chosen ones will soon have crossed the sea, and then the song of triumph will be heard when all are safely home!
