“To [God] be glory both now and forever.” 

—2 Peter 3:18

 

Heaven will be full of the ceaseless praises of Jesus. Throughout eternity your unceasing thought will be, “To him be glory.” Isn’t he a king forever?  Isn’t he the King of kings, the Lord of lords, and the everlasting Father? Then “To him be the glory forever” and ever. God’s praises will never come to an end. The glory of the cross must never be eclipsed; the luster of the resurrected grave must never be dimmed.

If you are a Christian, then you should be looking forward to the time when you will join the heavenly saints in ascribing glory to Jesus.  But, are you glorifying him now? The apostle’s words are, “To him be glory both now and forever.”

Won’t you make this your daily prayer? “Lord, help me to glorify you! When I am poor, help me to glorify you by contentment. When I am sick, help me to give you honor by being patient. With my wealth help me to worship you by spending it for you. I have a heart to feel, Lord; let that heart feel no love but yours and glow with no flame but affection for you. I can think, Lord, so help me to think of you and for you.

You have put me in this world for something, Lord; please show me what that is, and help me to work out my life-purpose. I can not do much, but as the widow put her “two cents” into the offering (which was all she had), so, Lord, I cast myself into your treasury. I am all yours; take me, and enable me to glorify you now in all that I say and do and with all that I have. [M&E]
