“The love of Christ constrains us.”
—2 Corinthians 5:14
How much do you owe to your Lord? What has He done for you? Has he forgiven your sins? Has He covered you with a robe of righteousness? Has He set your feet upon a rock? Does He watch over you and care for you? Has He prepared Heaven for you? Has He prepared you for Heaven? Has He written your name in His Book of Life? Has He given you countless blessings? If so, then do something for Jesus that is worthy of His love. And, please, don’t give your dying Redeemer mere words. How will you feel when your Redeemer comes for you and you have to confess that you did nothing for Him but kept your love shut up for Him like a stagnant pool.
Say good-bye to that kind of so-called love. Who will accept a love so weak that it provokes you to do nothing; no self-denial, no generosity, no heroism or zeal. Think of how He has loved you and given Himself for you. Do you know the power of that love? Then, let it be like a mighty rushing wind to your soul to sweep out the clouds of your worldliness and clear away the mists of your sin. For Christ’s sake let the Divine enrapture you and the heavens lift you from this earth. Let the Holy Spirit make you bold as a lion in your Lord’s service.
True love strengthens feet for service and arms for labor. With your eyes fixed on God, resolute to honor Him with a determination that won’t be turned aside, let us demonstrate the constraints of our love to Jesus today! [M&E]
