“Your Redeemer.”
—Isaiah 54:5
Jesus is our Redeemer, and He is altogether ours– and ours forever! He is king for us, priest for us, and prophet for us. Whenever we read a new title of the Redeemer, let us embrace Him again knowing that He is ours. The shepherd’s staff, the father’s rod, the captain’s sword, the priest’s robes, the prince’s scepter, the prophet’s mantle– all are ours. Jesus has no glory that He will not use for our exaltation. His very deity is our unfailing, inexhaustible treasure.
Even his manhood, which he took upon himself for us, is ours in all of its perfection. Through it he shows us the spotless virtue of a stainless character; he gives his merits to us by which we stand in the presence of God. He covers us with the white robes of his life, and adorns us with the precious jewels of His character. His manger is ours to teach us how God came down to man, and His Cross is ours to teach us how man may go up to God. All His thoughts, emotions, actions, miracles, and prayers were for us. He walked the road of sorrow on our behalf, and has granted to us the full results of all his labors.
He is now as much ours as He has been in the past. Even though He is the King of kings and Lord of lords, he allows us to call Him our Lord Jesus Christ. He is everywhere and in every way OUR Christ to enjoy; so, enjoy Him today. Call to him now, since He is “your Redeemer.” [M&E]
